Why NASA Spun Astronauts Around, But Doesn't Any More



Kids who grew up during the space race were fascinated to see astronauts spun around in a device that resembled the Multi Axis Trainer (MAT), which twirled them around in three dimensions. It looked so cool! The device eventually became a carnival thrill ride, and rightly so. What you may not know is the reason behind such training, which NASA no longer does. Tom Scott explains why.
