Getting Power During a Power Outage

The electricity in your home goes out. What to do? Well, if you knew what you were doing, you could use a flashlight to find the available batteries in your home to generate juice to run your most valuable gadgets.

Once again, Mehdi Sadaghdar of ElectroBOOM (previously at Neatorama) gives us a demonstration of why we really don't want to do what he's doing. Ever. But we appreciate the pain he goes through to warn us.  -via Laughing Squid

I've been interested in trying it as well. Upon "googling" there appears to be a poutine restaurant in Chicago, yaaay! (oh, how I love that Chi-town is such a foodie city) May have to check it out this weekend if I can strong arm the husband into cheating on his diet.

Alex: Google search says there's a truck in LA that serves poutine

Apparently, they have poutine in the US and they call it "cheese fries."

It's more popular in Quebec than the rest of Canada.

For what it's worth, I'm from Montreal and I don't like poutine.

It's from Quebec, not from Canada. We had Katimavik kids from all over Canada, and they all wanted to try Poutine because they've heard of it, but knew it was almost only in Quebec.

Had one today, discount of 28% because in January, the colder it is, the less it cost ;) (it was -28 C degrees today)

Yikes, absolutely NOT what I meant. What I meant is, don't go to British Columbia/Prince-Edward-Island thinking you'll easily find Poutine. It WILL be hard. But in Quebec, it's EVERYWHERE! Even in McDonalds.

It's from Quebec, Canada, not everywhere in Canada ;)

A bit like saying Rattle Snake meat is the national dish of USA, where it's only found in the south ;)
