How To Open Coconuts Without Any Tools

You never know when you might find yourself stranded on a desert island, by choice or otherwise, and as every castaway movie has taught us there are coconuts a-plenty on desert isles.

Coconuts can be eaten, worn as a bikini and used to simulate the sound of horses galloping, but first the husk must be removed before the coconut can be cracked open, which is really hard to do without tools.

Enter "The King of Random" Grant Thompson with a time tested method for de-husking coconuts while using as little energy as possible- by dropping a giant rock on it.

Once you're done dropping rocks on husked coconuts and dropping unhusked coconuts on sharp rocks you can use the fibers to make rope, which is another handy thing to have when you're a castaway.

My Nana lived in Scotland in Bowmore, Islay. She said that coconuts would occasionally wash up on the shore there. Said that some of the Hebrides islands even had palm trees on them due to a warm current that came up around the islands. My grandfather who hailed from Glasgow swore the Loch Ness Monster was real. Me? I swear by whisky. And now I am cutting myself off. Say goodnight, Sandy.

Young kids quite quickly pick up some of the basic aspects of things like graph theory, set theory, and even abstract algebra in the right contexts. I've seen multiple mathematicians speculate that teaching such topics more and at much younger ages could raise both kids interests in math and their long term prospects in pure math. The issue is that for 99% of people these math subjects have no direct practical use (still great mental exercises in multiple ways though), and some efforts to teach such subjects in the past did so at the expense of more practical arithmetic and applied math that people need in today's world. While I'm all for kids exploring topics for sake of interests or to help improve abstract thinking, the basics still need to be covered.

But with the way math is taught in most schools now, the closest most get to pure math is a proof-centric geometry course (which some like much more than a cookbook algebra course), and those that trying to go more heavily into math in university hit a wall with an abstract algebra course that weeds out a large number of people from math programs.
