Animated Data Visualization Of Fatalities In World War II

Historians are still analyzing World War II battlefield statistics seven decades later, and they're constantly making new and surprising discoveries about who and how many died when and where.

But if you're not a historian this information can be a bit dry to read, so if you possess a curious mind but don't care for number crunching The Fallen of World War II is for you.

This "animated data-driven documentary about war and peace" by Neil Halloran may seem like a morbid concept, but after watching the video you'll see that the "numbers" presented actually fill you with hope.

My favorite ocean going accident is the cargo container of rubber/plastic ducks from China that got dumped and released its cargo inot the Pacific. Oceanographers studying ocean currents used them to chart currents. They pretty much showed up all over the world at one time or another.
