Amazing Video: Parasite Leaving Its Host

A horsehair worm leaves its home, the body of a mantis. It's an astonishingly long creature. How did it all fit up inside its host?

It's entirely possible that you have a horsehair worm in you, too. Do you feel a slight itching sensation? That could be the worm twisting and churning inside of you.

How did it all fit? You may notice that we never see the head of the mantis as the worm is coming out in the jar. Obviously, the long worm was concealed in the glove, and was threaded through the mantis by the person holding it.
(OK, actually the worm was curled up inside the insect. It made room for itself by eating the insect's internal organs as it grew.)

Was the mantis able to survive after the worm left it's body? Was the mantis put into water or some other liquid that forced the parasite to leave it's host? HOW did the mantis end up with the parasite to begin with?
