Delicate Sculptures Made of Human Hair

Imhathai Suwatthanasilp is an artist and a student at Silpakorn University in Bangkok. Among other projects, she makes sculptures from her own hair. Hair has a special meaning to her. Suwatthanasilp’s father once cut his own hair and gave it to her and her three sisters. This symbolic act was important because hair is a:

[…] key medium that reflects love and union between family members. Having been the representative of the whole family as the symbol of the family’s blood and soul, the hair that were weaved together also serves as a diary that keeps reminding her of the memorable experiences and the relationship that have been transferred from generation to generation

Suwatthanasil recently exhibited her work at the NumThong Gallery in Bangkok.
