A Proposal Four Years in the Making

(YouTube link)

After their first date, Jack Hyer decided that he wanted to marry Rebecca Strellnauer -eventually. Over the next four years, while he made sure, he constructed an elaborate music video lip-synching to “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by The Proclaimers with clips of their travels in 26 different countries.

It’s an epic effort, but this kind of open-ended project is not so difficult when you are just thinking about proposing. After all, he could have decided at any point not to let her in on the purpose of the video and abandon it completely. But the round-the-world travel makes the end product really special. We wish them all the happiness in the world. But honestly, why does it take four years to go from deciding to marry someone to the actual proposal? -via Time

A little scary. Whoever leads this group would have a lot of power.
I think I saw a part of the intro to "Mindhunter" in the clip, as well as a scene from "The Joker" where the joker puts on his makeup. I wonder if it is just coincidence and they made their own video, or if they took clips from various sources.

45 years ago, the military tried to recruit me out of college. With no agenda other than looking out for my well being, I asked, "How can you expect to get anyone any good when you are offering one third the wages of civilian jobs?" If he gave an answer, I do not remember it.
If there is one branch of the military that should be good at finding employees, it should be PSYOPS. That they need a recruitment video has me worried.
