A Bowl Designed to Help Disabled People Eat

Ryan Kirkpatrick, an industrial designer in Sydney, Australia, developed the Scoop Bowl. The design is simple but clever. It assumes that a user is attempting to eat with one hand or has limited muscular control. It has a rubber base that helps prevent slipping. The user can brace the flat edge against a wall, prosthetic hand, or some other immovable object.

I'm an occupational therapist and use these all the time. Not a new concept but a more elegant design of scoop bowls already available. We shy from anything other than plastic due to safety concerns.
