Hey look! It's time for our collaboration with the wonderful What Is It? Blog! Do you know what the object in this picture is? It doesn't really matter if you do, because we are looking for the funniest guesses. You can win a t-shirt from the NeatoShop! But first, read the rules:

Place your guess in the comment section below. One guess per comment, please, though you can enter as many as you'd like. Two winners who submit funny and/or clever (albeit ultimately wrong) answers will each win a T-shirt from the NeatoShop.

Update: the mystery object is an ice cleat for attaching to the heel of a shoe. A handy item, no doubt, but we were looking for funny guesses. One of the best answers came from Berhard, who said,

This is obviously a tool-less mountable „space saver“ spare horseshoe... just enough to get you and your mustang to the next farrier... without the need to carry a forge and an anvil..
The wild west ancestor of the „limited use donut tyre“...

That’s good for a t-shirt from the NeatoShop! But how does he make those upside-down quotes? The other great guess came from Randall:

Don't be put off by the seemingly crude appearence of this device, for without it the astronauts would have never reached the moon! This an artificial orange squeezer that was used to make Tang, the delicous vitamin packed space drink you can enjoy right here on earth, if you have a taste for watery sickly sweet orange colored sand. I can't describe exacltly how it worked, because thats still so classified, even Snowden won't tell us. I think it was fitted to a space boot, and the artificial orange was stomped on like they do grapes when they make wine.

It is a horseshoe designed for the game of polo. Polo and soccer/football initially began as the same game. The original game was a game more like soccer/football played by horses. The cleats were just like the cleats that other athleats use during their games of soccer/football.

This is an early prototype of a pair of dentures. When a person had a matching set of these, they could actually chew through most wood and metal, as well as their food.

It is half of a set of dentures for mountaineers. These beasts came with a spring-loaded section that you could carry in your rucksack. If you ever became lost in the wilderness, your dentures could be made into a small game trap.

It is a movable pole-vaulting point. With a good hammer, within 10 seconds, this could be mounted wherever you like, allowing anyone to bound over large objects with ease.

It's a single military cleat for warhorses. The horse would place his already-shod foot on top of this item and it would be secured over his hoof. This would cause extra damage on the battlefield and allow the horse to maintain speed while running through lines of soldiers.

It's a mountain goat kit!

During pioneer days, not everyone could afford real mountain goats to pull their plows across the sides of mountains. In order to rectify the situation, farmers could buy a set of these puppies and modify their horses or other farm animals into ready-made mountain goats.

It's a reverse horseshoe. This was mountain backwards onto a horse's foot. When the horse walked, it would leave tracks in reverse, to make it appear as though the horse had just left a location instead of having just arrived.

It is a decoy bear trap. While this object didn't actually have the ability to trap bears, this would be placed around a farmstead after a number of bear traps had already been triggered. Upon seeing this, bears who had learned to avoid bear traps would also avoid these, keeping a homestead safe.

It is the tin man's crown. The Tinman of Oz became King, years after the story of the Wizard of Oz. With all of his heart, he led the kingdom with great compassion and mercy. However, the shape of his head caused most crowns to fall off, so blacksmiths constructed this crown, which could be bolted onto his head. As the tinman was a construct instead of a person, it didn't hurt him a bit!

This is clearly Richard Kiel's (Jaws from 007) retainer. The screw connects to his head gear (which is not pictured) to further assist in maintaining precise alignment of his steel teeth.

Obviously, it's a horse cleat for equine golf. Not shown is the tam o'shanter with earholes cut out, or the short plaid horsepants that they're expected to wear. Personally, though, I've never supported the sport because so many country clubs still don't allow Jewish horses.

It's a bit similar to the ones worn by race horses. However in this circumstance it is worn by Neatorama caption contest judges. When it is time to make a decision the editor of Neatorama simply tugs on the reigns attached to the bit to let the judges know it is time to make a decision. It is a much simpler means of communicating.

It's clearly one of a set of horse crampons for mountaineers too lazy to climb the icy slopes on foot. You see, climbing mountains began gaining popularity in the late 1800's but, as with many great spots, it became quite fashionable, even inspiring those without an athletic bone in their body to attempt glacial summits. This invention was created to aide the more delicate ladies and gentlemen in joining the latest sports craze. The horses were not amused.
