Is Forrest Gump's Run Even Possible?

In the 1994 movie Forrest Gump, Forrest goes on a run one day and keeps running for 3 years, 2 months, 14 days, and 16 hours. He crosses the United States completely twice, and partially another couple of times. The estimated miles Forrest covered in the fictional story is 19,024. Can a person really do that?

Lauren Hansen asked a panel of experts to look at a possible real-life run of that magnitude. They picked apart what Forrest Gump did right (he had perfect form) and what he did wrong (the clothing). They speculated on the hardships of such a run, and they delivered their verdict. The deliberations on the way give us a look into the mind of a runner. Read the entire account at The Week.
