Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is pregnant with a child who will be in a direct line to inherit the throne of England. The news is not all good, as the Duchess has been hospitalized for treatment of hyperemesis gravidarum, or severe and debilitating morning sickness. The New York Times spoke with Dr. Marlena Fejzo, an obstetrics researcher and former H.G. sufferer, about the condition.
Q. What is hyperemesis gravidarum?
A. It’s severe, debilitating nausea and vomiting in pregnancy that generally leads to more than 5 percent weight loss and requires fluid treatment. Sometimes, in more extreme cases, it requires nutritional supplements.
Q. Are there treatments?
A. Doctors try to give IV and anti-nausea medication at first. About 20 percent of the women who contact the Hyperemesis Education and Research Foundation require tube feeding. It’s very serious. They have to have a tube inserted above their heart. Blood tests have to be done every day, or every other day, and the bag of nutrients has to be monitored to make sure it’s personalized for the woman’s needs. But I don’t think Kate Middleton (based on news reports) has it that bad. She’s just gone in for the IV fluids.

"And would this even have made the news if she wasn't a celebrity?"
So, on what basis are you bashing her?
Not that I mind it, really, but you should consider your motivation. Are you putting forth a rational objection, or are you having a knee-jerk contrarian anti-famous-person attitude out of jealousy, bitterness, despair, or insecurity?
We'll always have the parasites of celebrities and royalty in the world - people who are "special" by reason of birth or looks. If they can at leasdt be used to bring our attention to strange and unusual diseases, etc..., at least that's a start. The coal mines can be the next step.
This is Neatorama, after all, not PSA-orama.
I don't wish anyone to suffer and it's good that awareness is being raised. However, show me the barely making ends meet mother who is suffering from this, or better yet one that is uninsured. I have much more sympathy for them then for a duchess.
I always feel better after a huge, sodium laden breakfast that must include bacon or sausage, lots of coffee, and a bottle of Lucozade. It doesn't take away the general feeling, but it settles my tum and makes me functional.
You can still buy Chaser at your local Walgreen's...
I've NEVER heard of raw egg being involved in curing a hangover... much less as part of a morning-after Bloody Mary. I always thought we were the land of Ibuprofen and Orange Juice.
i have bad hangovers... most the time a shot of vodka and a glass of cold orange juice (or a screwdriver, but that's harder to get down imho) and something really spicy to eat get me down enough to at least work if i have to. :)
then drink away!!!!!
if u feel like sh*t the nx day, plenty of green tea and fresh-squeezed lime juice, works within an hour 4 me, and trust that i drink; i'm known to mix corn liquor/moonshine w/goose...hell yeah...then as erry1 is sayin, replace those electrolytes, powerade is good
