Gibraltar Airport Runway Crosses a Main Road

Photo via Hoax Slayer

Stop the car, it's red light and an airplane is coming through!

You read that right. The runway of the Gibraltar International Airport runs across the main road of the island, so cars have to stop for landing airplanes. This is just one of six of the most bizarre airport runways of the world: Link - Thanks David!

there was a t.v. show about this on history channel i think, their list was a lil different, i didnt see kai tak airport on this one.

my favorite of them all is Princess Juliana Intl i'd love to visit that beach!

Princess Juliana International is a fun place not just because you can sit at the Sunset Beach Bar, that is situated at the end of Maho beach, and watch the planes land but because it is fun to take off from the island. What the pictures never show is that planes that are departing start at the beach side of the runway and then take off heading towards a small mountain. The take off is steep and the pilot has to do a steep bank as well to avoid hitting the hillside. Ah, good times!
