Book Bench - Neatorama

I think the natural decay of this bench makes it even more beautiful. If I got to decide what books were in the bench I would probably choose Skippy Dies, Ender's Game, The Hobbit, Catch 22, Super Sad True Love Story (the book that I am currently enthralled with), The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (trilogy), Things Fall Apart and maybe Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal.

I don't think that comment exists here. Are you referring to my comment where I said, "the titles appear to be in German, so I can't really read them" in reference to the fact that I could not identify what the books were?

I'm sure they have been treated/sealed so that the bench is functional.

I think it's awesome when people re-purpose old worn books. They live forever that way, even if the paper is worn and they are tattered. I've seen artwork made of books and I find it very calming and wonderful. Like a living library. I'd sit on this bench and read :)

I saddens me that these books are ruined and can no longer be read and enjoyed. Many of us are poor and Kindle deprived and must read actual paper books.

Mould is extremely bad for you.
I like the comment "They're in German, so I can't read them anyway..."
I guess if it isn't important enough to print in English, it doesn't matter.

In the States it's spelled mold, in Britain (and some other places) it's spelled mould. Two counties divided by a common language. : )

My friend suggested this to me and I think he might be right- the books are made of wood. It is hard to tell, but it is possible that just the covers are on the books and they are used over extra blocks of wood someone had laying around. If you look at one of the middle books the "pages" are brown.. I have never seen a brown book like that before but I have seen brown wood. That being said this is only a theory and I am not saying it is necessarily correct.
