This is a stupid idea, or it's really a way to make fun of the homeless. Does anyone think this really helps them or gives them a boost to their confidence in getting out of this situation?
I'd have said that the biggest indication that they were in need of money was the fact that they had a sign made of old cardboard. You don't even need to read a cardboard sign, you pretty much know the message and why the person is there. Holding a pro-quality sign gives the impression that it's some kind of advertisement, and I don't think a homeless person begging for money needs one more reason to be ignored.
Seriously -- this is an awful idea. (Frank's sign in particular is utterly unreadable in its after format.) And as has been stated, a professional sign looks like advertising, not a personal plea from someone purportedly hungry and homeless.
