Won't Someone Think of the Caribou?

That's what Texas Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert said, in defense of an Alaskan oil pipeline project. It's all about the caribou:

Here’s his theory: The caribou very much enjoy the warmth the pipeline radiates. “So when they want to go on a date, they invite each other to head over to the pipeline,” he informed his colleagues. It’s apparently the equivalent of being wined and dined. And that has resulted in a tenfold caribou population boom, he concluded.

“So my real concern now ...if oil stops running through the we need a study to see how adversely the caribou would be affected if that warm oil ever quit flowing?” he asked.

Wow, US-bashing and TX-bashing all in the same comments.

I can tell you that US politics are not any worse than anything I have seen after living in Europe for 20 years. Get to know how the Italians run their country, or the Greeks, for example, and then get back to me about how the US ranks, dude.

Do you REALLY think that TX pols are worse than those from other states? REALLY? LOL TX happens to be one of the few states right now that is in pretty good shape in terms of low-level unemployment and reasonable taxes. Go check out California and see if you can say the same. LOL

Get over yourself.

@hmmm... Agreed. I wonder why as well. Everytime I am there i feel bombarded by their media, and it is all so very violent and overwhelming. It really is exhausting. Perhaps they just give up after so much saturation.

Politics in the USA are a joke to such an extent that it boggles the mind.

What boggles my mind even more is how people in the US put up with it. I guess that if you live long enough in an insane asylum you start to think that it's normal.
