Do fireflies really blink with no warmup or cooldown? Unless those fireflies are fitted with LEDs chances are good it is multiple exposures composited together rather than one long exposure.

I have to say when I first saw this that it was one of the maps that show plane flight routes at night! This is a very cool idea and nicely shot.
