24 Hours in Dubai

(YouTube link)

A view of the city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates was recorded from 4AM to 4AM over the weekend. The time-lapse shows shadows moving with the sun, one tiny little cloud that wanders over, the fountain show seen as flashes of light, and strangely ominous music. -via Geeks Are Sexy

Amazing watching the sun reflect off the top of the Burj Dubai long before it actually visibly rises over the horizon... Isn't that something -- if you're in the tower, the sun rises and hour earlier for you than for those on the ground.

As a Torontonian who was a little disappointed to lose the "tallest structure" title (ie. our CN Tower) by a wide margin to this impressive monstrosity, I have to admit that I'd kind of like to go and see this spectacle in person... although as a heavily tattooed somewhat outlandish individual, I have a certain paranoia about traveling in countries like Dubai!

Take heart Shannon, the CN Tower is still the largest "free standing" structure in the world and unlikely to lose that title anytime soon ;-)

No it's not.... Burke Khalifa is the talles structure in the world of any definition. CN Tower is neither the worlds tallest tower/building or free standing structure anymore. Sorry!
