Clever Camera

WVIL is the name of a cool concept that the Artefact Group has come up with. It's a camera that features a touchscreen that works pretty much like the iPhone.

The patent-pending WVIL system takes the connectivity and application platform capabilities of today's smart phones and wirelessly connects them with interchangeable full SLR-quality optics. It is the inevitable solution for photographers who expect the power of modern mobile devices but who also demand uncompromised quality.

I think these guys are on a hiding to nothing here. Nikon already do touchscreen cameras. Nikon already do EVIL cameras. I doubt there's anyting that these guys could patent that Nikon couldn't claim to have prior art.

By the looks of it, this also means their concept will have a sensor in each of the lenses. Ricoh tried this and failed. This system with a sensor in each lens will get expensive quick.

I wonder how it would simulate very specific lighting though (like backlights, hairlights, etc) I just dont think it's going to be able to simulate any of the best practical in-cam effects glass and lighting can accomplish.

Don't want to be a buzzkill but if APPLE get wind of anything to do with touchscreen they will sue these guys or put an injunction on em (like they are doing to samsung in germany and australia)
