The bitrate describes the colour depth. Nothing to do with the amount of pixels.

No, "8-bit" refers to a processor that can access 8 bits of data in a single operation. In pop culture terms, "8-bit" artwork usually refers to artwork that resembles the graphical capabilities of 8-bit video game consoles such as the NES.
