Members of the MIT Media Lab have created a python script called Minecraft.print() which will allow players of Minecraft with access to a 3D printer the opportunity to print out their creations. And while the odds of an average person having access to a 3D printer are slim, this script is a step in the right direction when it comes to programs playing nicely with 3D printers. Check out a video of the printer in action over at Forbes Online.

I have to admit that I haven't played Minecraft, but doesn't that look like a weighted storage cube from Portal?

The article says that's a model of a Weighted Companion Cube that was created in MineCraft and printed using this script.

That was not created in Minecraft, though it could very well have been 3d printed. Someone has the wrong image.

@Jon A. - If you read the article in the link, and watch the video, you will see that it is, in fact, a Weighted Companion Cube that was built in Minecraft and then printed on the 3D printer. The cube in the Minecraft world is absolutely MASSIVE, allowing for the detail reflected in the 3D printed version.
