Jim Henson's More Surreal Side

Jim Henson wasn't all puppets and special effects, sometimes his mind wandered into strange places, and this clip from the TV special The Cube illustrates that his genius knew no bounds. This surreal show aired 2 episodes on NBC during their Experimental Night Of Television in 1969.

I love the fact that you, intentionally or otherwise, posted the entire "From Inside the Henson Archives" playlist here. I've been watching everything in it and sharing the whole list on FB. So much strange awesomeness!

Yeah, I saw ep 1 when I was a wee one. At the end he is allowed to cut himself, and blood comes out. Someone says something like, "See? It's real!". Then the guy tastes his blood and it is really strawberry jam. Freaked me out the door...

I found that quite frustrating to watch; if he really wanted to get those cuffs around his foot, he really should have just taken off his shoe.

I also probably have a mild case of claustrophobia.

What's amazing to me (even watching the YouTube clip nearly a year later) is that Bolt essentially coasted the last 30m.

Imagine what his time would have been if he legged it out (no, I'm not calling him out)...

I might recommend Catherine Ndereba, the first woman to win the Boston Marathon four times, and former world record holder. I went out to the Chicago Marathon when my step-father was running in it, and saw Ndereba set the record, so I'm a little partial. Good luck in your 20K!
