Christina Biliouri's Glassware For The Blind

Imagine the plight of the blind guest at a party of sighted friends. Chatting becomes a challenge when it’s tricky to know where others in the group are standing. One solution: hand out chunky glass swizzle sticks which create a chink loud enough to identify a person’s location.

London-based designer Christina Biliouri has used smart technology to create the Transensing line of glassware that will help the blind interact through touch and sound. For example the In Between Bubbles glass  allows the blind drinker to hear the sounds from the similar glass of a partner elsewhere in the room by means of wireless gadget in both glasses.

Yeah, seems pretty useless. I like the idea but it just doesn't seem like it would be any benefit. The blind can locate someone by their talking just as well as they could by a clinking glass. Plus people will probably not clink their glasses very much because it would be annoying to others.

i agree with the others: unless i'm missing something, this is a solution looking for a problem. until now i was under the solid conviction people tend to talk at a party.
