Rare Electric-Blue Lobster - Neatorama

Only one in four million lobsters is blue, a genetic mutation in coloring that makes for an interesting-looking creature. This blue lobster was caught Wednesday off the shores of Prince Edward Island, the only one since 2009. Blair Doucette, the fisherman who nabbed the beauty, says he has never caught a blue lobster in his 30 years of fishing. He is considering donating the lobster to a local aquarium.

Crayfish turn up this color more often (I assume) I had a blue one as a pet for quite awhile. His name was Craig, and he was lovely. Looked just like the one in the pic, but at 1/8th scale.

The Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ has a couple of these - they said a blue lobster is an albino.

ack! quit throwing the word 'racism' around where it doesn't belong. there's no difference in race - they're lobsters. now, if you want to call it a 'lobster of color (other than red)', then you might have something to grasp at.

The guy who caught it sent the lobster to the NOAA Aquarium in Woods Hole.
