Name That Weird Invention!

It's the Name That Weird Invention! contest. Steven M. Johnson comes up with all sorts of crazy ideas for the Museum of Possibilities. Can you come up with a name for this one? Commenters suggesting the funniest and cleverest names will win a free T-shirt from the NeatoShop.

Contest rules: one entry per comment, though you can enter as many as you like. Please make a selection of the T-shirt you want (may we suggest the Science T-shirt, Funny T-shirt, and Artist-designed T-shirt categories?) alongside your entry. If you don't select a shirt, then you forfeit the prize. Good luck!

Update: First prize goes to Alexandru Popa for "The Hairmet." Second prize was won by Manticore for "The Mullmet." Both t-shirts from the NeatoShop!

Hate to be a buzzkill, but part of what makes a helmet work is a hard, smooth outer shell that slides when it hits the pavement. Anything that causes the least bit of grab can twist your head and neck on impact.

I bought one of the afro ones for halloween, like, years ago. I think it was called a "wig helmet" or "helmet wig" so naming the invention should be as easy as looking up the name the are sold under.

I am eagerly awaiting another rumored invention of Steven M. Johnson. It's a cup shaped object for holding, transporting, and drinking coffee out of. I think he tentatively was going to call it a "coffee cup"

With Miiike on the fail of this idea.
I have yet to see an idea from this artist that I like. The ideas are often impractical and sometimes dangerous (and sometimes are already out there?). And yet, several features from Neatorama? Don't get it cuz it ain't neat.

To joe citizen, Jimbo and others,

This man has been doing these drawings for many years (my guess is from the 70's on). They are a look back into the imagination of a quirky man over the decades. He does not market himself as the ultimate inventor of perfect and practical radness. They are meant to be seen as humorous.
Instead of complaining, why don't you whip out the old pen and paper and have a go at it? Comedy is a lot harder then it looks. Save your "insightful" put downs for people who are spewing hate into the world.
Leave the artists alone.
I think this is a great joke and I am sure that my favorite comedy duo (The Flight of the Concords) would agree as it appeared as a running gag on their show. I cracked up every time.
Keep on keepin' on!

Apparently, we have a few people who don't like us having a contest where we give away t-shirts for interacting with a humorous picture. Apparently, we also have a lot of people who like it!
