The Solowheel

The wheel from the comic strip B.C. is now a real product! The Solowheel is sort of a minimalist Segway, consisting of only a powered, gyroscopic wheel and foot platforms. It should be available sometime this month for $1,500. See more pictures and a video at Gizmodo. Link -via the Presurfer

Red Bunny, unless you're deliberately just trying to be a troll, you must have absolutely no idea what the Solowheel is. You're going to build a motor and gyroscope in your garage?

@Minesotastan: That was mean. It says and I quote "consisting of only a wheel and foot platforms". Well, even if it is similar to a segway, with a gyroscope and a motor, it's still pretty dumb. Can you truly say that you would spend $1500 on one? If you would you're either filthy rich or just plain impulsive. The segway was stupid and so is the solowheel. They seem pretty pointless to me. Why not just ride a bike and get some exercise?

Unless you are riding this on perfectly smooth ground, you really ought to wear a helmet. Hit a rock just right and you'd go over on your face.

Personally, I think I'd prefer a unicycle.

I think while riding this all I need is a spear and a thong. Speaking of which, I need to do my laundry tonight so I have fresh business casual clothing for tomorrow.
