It's not a hotel, but the Children's Museum (Musee de los Ninos) in San Jose, Costa Rica was an old prison too. It's painted a bright yellow now but the prison vibe is unmistakable, even though the exhibits inside are pretty awesome for kids.

They could make some good money if they ever converted Alcatraz. But it is great to have as an historic site to visit...
