It is to train wasps! He just hates mohawks. So the robot gets up there, pisses the wasps off, and over time the wasps develop a sting on sight mentality towards anyone with a mohawk.

What a bad translation. It's not to swat (bzzzzzzt) wasps, but to swat W.A.S.P.'s (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant's). The lab dude was tired of all the WASP's coming into his lab and inciting individual thinking and promoting creative ideas. Getting his idea for the "rad" fembot attractor from the 80's brandy bunch - he thought for sure the super sweet mohawk would be a surefire lure.
