Is Ladies' Night Sexist?

The guy has it all wrong. Men pay (in droves) for women to BE THERE when they party. Without the ladies' night, ladies don't come.

So what about a club where a bunch of wiggers want to hang out, but they would prefer to hang out with actual black people, so they have free admission for black people but charge extra for the white people that want to hang out with them?

In Cleveland they no longer have a lady's night. It's now called silky smooth leg night. That way it's still focused towards women but men can get in on it too.

...but what about nude mudwrestling night? Paying for the girls to be there, too.

Asking for equality is not anti-feminist

Chicks go to a club to have fun.
Guys go to a club to get chicks.

This isn't EVERY guy or girl, but quite a lot.

So clubs are going to want more girls,
which in turn, will bring more guys.

I agree with SenorMysterioso - why is he a 'self described anti-feminist'? Sounds pretty feministic to me, to argue against the biasing of actions based solely on gender. Men's sporting and business clubs are going the way of the dinosaur because they're exclusive based on gender. Yet women's fitness clubs are on the rise. And here I always thought it was about gender equality.

It wasn't too long ago that a respectable woman would enter a bar without a male escort if at all. You've come a long way baby.

I wonder how at white men night would go over? White males get in free and have half price drinks all others pay.

I wouldn't mind if ladies' nights were abolished, but in return women should be able to get men's haircuts and (as it is probably obligatory to mention) equal pay for the same work.

Once everything else is equal, I'll worry about this. So long as I get paid 85% of what males of comparable skill and education level in the same field make (and that's being generous to some fields), just give me my alcohol.

I also don't think that this guy is acting in an anti-feminist way here, as he's trying to level things out so that everyone is equal, but he's described HIMSELF that way, and if you search him and look at his past quotes and cases you'll see that he really is just a misogynistic jerk who resents women.

I think the establishment should be allowed to set any price they want. If you don't like it, don't go there. If guys stop going, there won't be a point of a ladies night anyway. But to claim it isn't sexist is ridiculous. You're making people pay a different amount based on gender; it's basically the definition of sexism.

Your argument doesn't hold water. What about the guy on the lower end of the bell curve of salary based on comparable skill and education level? He probably makes less than you (the guy with the lowest salary compared to a woman with average salary). Should he get cheaper drinks too?

I have friends who own bars. They all say the same thing. If they didn't have a "ladies night" they wouldn't be able to stay in business. Too many men in the bars and not enough women. Ladies' night gives the women a reason to go to the bars and it gives the guys chances to hit on the women. It's a win/win situation if you know how to play the game.

Where do you think the women who go to bars would go if they eliminated ladies night? Late-night church socials?

Whatever happened to common sense? The favoritism here isn't to exclude anybody it's to get chicks to come to a place where they probably wouldn't go otherwise. It's enticement, not exclusion. That's the big difference.

Ahem. Women who refrain from marriage and children make MORE money than single men who also refrain from marriage and children.

Your statement is stale, decades old feminazi propaganda. All things being equal, women in the US make as much or more than their male colleagues. Throw a spouse or kids into the mix and those obligations negatively impact work performance and compensation.

You can’t have it both ways – You cannot make it a crime to discriminate based on someones race while allowing gender discrimination to remain legal.

If I cannot open a hot dog stand that says: Hotdogs: $2 ($5 for Whites)

Then you cannot open a bar that says: Drinks: $2 ($5 for Men)

The misguided zealots of the civil rights movement missed this in their fervor to right all wrongs, and in doing so perverted the entire concept of property rights in a free society.

If it is your business, you should be able to operate it according to any set of rules that you choose. It is a business – it is not a public service institution. You ought not be obligated or compelled by law to do commerce with anybody. Nor should you be compelled to offer the same price to everyone. It’s YOUR business. Run it however you see fit and the market will determine its success or failure.

But no, hypocrites flying the flag of freedom have done more to tie the hands of the people than any other single accomplishment they can lay claim to. So much so that there actually is a lot of precedent for banning ‘ladies nights’. And it’s all f’ing ridiculous.
