Paul the Oracle Octopus Won Again!

Alex

So, if you've been watching the World Cup, you know that Spain has beaten the Netherlands. But the real winner may just be Paul the Oracle Octopus who correctly predicted the outcome:

Dubbed the "oracle octopus", Paul beat his rival Mani, Singapore's psychic parakeet, who incorrectly predicted a win for Holland.

Punters gambling on the mystic mollusc's predictions have won up to half a million pounds during the month-long tournament, according to bookmakers William Hill. [...]

The octopus, who now resides in Germany's Oberhausen Sea Life aquarium, correctly predicted the outcome of all six matches involving his adopted homeland by choosing to eat a mussel from boxes emblazoned with the flags of the German team and its rivals.

After his prediction that Germany would be defeated by Spain came to pass, some angry fans called for him to be thrown in a shark tank. But he won support from Spanish fans who pledged to protect him, despite their country's fondness for calamari.

Nice advertising for the place with the octopus, I'm sure it's pretty easy to figure out some additives that the octopus likes better and then put these on the side you expect to win the game, with a little bit of luck you become world famous for how 'smart' your octopus is.

Kind of neat but not mean spirited enough. ;P Its far more enjoyable to poke fun at other peoples failed craft attempts than blogging about your own.
Someone out there needs to do an ETSYfail site. I've seen so many horrible crafts that should be mocked (if only to humble the owners on the outrageous prices they THINK their mess is worth). Maybe throw in a Dirtydouble section for people who rip off the ideas of others in ETSY as well, because that's a real fail.

hmm, recently, all neatorama comments and permalink pages are giving me an error. I wonder if it's because I just got IE8... (but i'm not experiencing this on other pages.) odd...

Yes, it just didn't have the same oomph as something like that cake-wrecks site. Reading through a few of them, it had an awful narcissistic tone - "even my failures are fascinating".

@ VideoGameDork - I experienced same issues. I emailed Alex about it. He said it should be fixed. :)

I love that blog. I have had a few craft fails. And I do love how people mock their own failures. I will most likely be submitting stuff, the next time I make soap.
