Subway to Tessellate Cheese?

For years, people have complained about the way that Subway places the cheese wedges on their sandwiches. This is best explained by a 2007 comic from Left Handed Toons. As we suspected, it was a policy designed to encourage customers to order extra cheese. However, what looks to be an internal memo from Subway Down Under hints that this policy might be changed effective July first. Link

I think now that this change is taking place, I will celebrate by ordering extra cheese... under the meat, and on top of it, for maximum cheesy goodness!

Curses! Only Australia and NZ? Oh well, I shall inform my sister of the good news. Well, they usually are the testing grounds for franchise changes, I hope all goes well.

I had Subway two days ago (Sunday, NZ time) and they did this. I couldn't believe that something brought up on a social news site had actually made it into reality.

Glad it did, tho'.

Hate to break it to you guys but my subway has always done it this way. for many many years.

I think it's more "busy employees" than "force people to buy more cheese."

and let's face it, the "new" way looks a lot better and more professional and it gets the cheeze more coverage.

Havng worked at Subway during the "have it your way" years - employees did really did not give a crap about "formula". And customers would always bitch about how they wanted you to make their sandwich anyways.
