Murrine glass is an art form using glass that is formed by layering colors and stretching the hot glass into a cane. Then the cane is cut into cross sections, exposing the colors and patterns inside. I've seen a guy at work once with the hot glass. It is one thing to make such items anyhow. If you heat it just a tad to much, it gets to liquid, runny. And then the only way to process the material (glass) is by heating it so much that even to come near it, makes you scorch and hurt. Amazing.

The truth? It looks like that big clump of hard candy my relatives always had that formed to the bottom of the candy dish. Now that's an art project.

I've worked with stained glass before, but it doesn't even compare to the time it takes to make these pieces.
