9-Minute History of a City As a Pop-Up Book

(Video Link)

Animator Rob Carter made this short film which shows the development of Charlotte, North Carolina over two and a half centuries, compressed into nine minutes of papercraft. Buildings appear and move around in a style reminiscent of a pop-up book.

UPDATE: The YouTube video was yanked, so I've put up another one. This is only the last three minutes of the presentation, but it's still quite good.

At first I thought there was a fair dose of "wishful thinking" on display as far as the future of Charlotte goes, as the final product is rather more like Dallas, TX than present-day Charlotte. However, a perusal of the artist's website reveals that it's actually intended as "bleak" and "hubristic".
