The Smallest House In The World

Jay Shafer is the creator and resident of the smallest house in the world, which he has proudly named Tumbleweed. Jay is an artist and architect who lives in his home in San Francisco.  He sells plans for and builds tiny homes in sizes ranging from an extremely small 50 feet to a practically roomy 500 feet.

I think these houses have been mentioned here before. Either way, I would like to point out that the larger designs are beautiful and wouldn't look at all out of place anywhere in northern New England.

As the cost of fuel rises, water grows scarcer, and general living expenses rise, it's good to realize that you don't need a McMansion for your family.

ABC's Home Makeover show makes me want to vomit sometimes. Yes, some families do need the space, but many times it seems as though those homes are overbuilt just to show off their construction skills and do extra product placement.

Umm thats kind of the whole point of the show. the fact the some people get a nicer place to live is not the point. its simple a media for advertising with out people thinking "hey, why am i watching an infomercial?" you dont honestly think ABC gives a damn about helping people do you? its all how many products can we get paid to push with out people realizing they are watching an hour long advert and save tons of cash on having to actually pay people for scripts or actors for acting. construction crews are cheap and most of the materials are provided by manufactures its all money money money. and definitly not about giving a damn about the people.

Basically like living in a dorm room with your roommates side being the kitchen/toilet and your bed being up on the roof! This is great! I love the bed... that's reall cool. But... what would happen during a natural disaster?

Take it from a person who has lived in a tiny apartment for 5+ years-- less vacuuming, but you will inevitably acquire new stuff, so you add a new chore to your monthly routine: moving the stuff around, making trips to salvation army to drop off old stuff to make room, etc... It never ends!

Well it's cute, and if people want to live in it, more power to them.
Just looking at the photos though and watching the video made me claustraphobic.
I love my 2100sqft house thank you!
