AC/DC Music Video Composed Using MS Excel

(YouTube Link)

Phil Clandillon and Steve Milbourne of Sony/BMG have composed a video for AC/DC's "Rock N' Roll Train" using Microsoft Excel. You can even download the .xls file and run it on your own computer.

You mean the .xls file? :P
Wouldn't really be anything special in a .exe file that plays a movie.

Holy wtf. Very Impressive!

This would have been ultimately cooler if they had used some other artist, maybe Snow Patrol. Sorry, but as cool as the result is, it can't be that hard to find a more 21st century band to debut it.

From appearances, it just looks like they embedded a movie in the file. But I don't know enough about it. And, yes, I also wonder about the choice of artist.

They embedded a WAV file, and used some VBA trickery to make an ASCII movie in range of merged cells.

For the VBA inclined, a few hints here:

Neato...but no rama.
The lovely people at Microsoft decided not to include VBA macro support for Excel (or Word) in the 2008 Mac version. So if you're a Mac user with an updated Office package, you'll have to get your AC/DC fix someplace else (such as by urinating on an electric outlet).
