Ska-loving kangaroo torments unsuspecting French population

I hope that I never grow out of finding this sort of thing funny.

The man in the "kangourou" costume is French prankster Rémi Gaillard. He's famous in France for wearing national sports teams' uniforms and slipping by security to join the teams on the pitch, at victory parties, in audience with President Jacques Chirac, etc. - all for the benefit of the camera.

The influence of Jackass and the UK's Dom Joly are apparent in this video of Gaillard on a rampage dressed like a kangaroo. The song is "Kangourou Nomade" by the French ska band Nomades et Skaetera. [DailyMotion]

Note: The video includes a brief shot of a topless sun-bather. I suggest that if breasts frighten you, you should avert your eyes.

lol! he would seriously get his ass kicked if he tried ANY of this in the states.

and Alex, you might mention the topless nudity, for those at work (or anti-bosom).

He's an idiot.
None of this is funny, even though most of it seems staged.
He's not merely inconveniencing people or frightening them - he's really molesting them and doing physical damage.

Moron.

Yeah, it's kinddda funny, but really he's just an asshole in a funny suit, and he deserves any and all beat downs he receives. And certainly a bit more than he's getting.

I love this. And just so you know, all except the dropkick and harassing officers can be done here in the states. My friends and I have been doing the same things for years.

I guess it's too late for me. I don't see how being a jerk is funny. Now the cops dragging his butt down was funny. Plus I wish that golfer had tried a little harder to go after him. I mean, he had a golf club in his hand. What else is that good for?
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
i really feel sorry for those that don't find this funny. it must suck to be so serious. i am a 44 year old woman (i am? yikes!) and if any of those things had been done to me - i would've laughed just as hard as i did watching them done to others. just take a deep breath, relax and lighten up for goodness sakes. life is fun!
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Funny, yeah, but to a point. I really didn't find it funny when he knocked that golfer into the pond, for example. I just stopped watching at that point.

jodie:

Kinda arrogant to assume that whoever does'nt share your childish (jeez, what an understatement!) sense of humor should "lighten up".
The guy is an asshole harassing people. Trust me, I'm very relaxed, but I don't see anything funny here.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Parts of this are awesome - like the boxing in the elevator. But mostly, as Mr. Binky says, he's just an asshole in a funny suit. Why is personal injury and harassment funny?
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
I agree with the people that say the crude things were stupid. The elevator bit was funny, but the splashing, the sand thing, etc. it's just cruel. This is basically watching a video some dumb asshole "class clown" would make post highschool. I really hope a lot of these were staged.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Oh and I wanted to respond to jodie's comment: Some of these would be funny to see, or have happen to you in person. But I wouldn't like getting splashed by a puddle or kicked into a pond. It would probably ruin my day, even if I was feeling lighthearted beforehand.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
I know, I know, it's childish, stupid, rude and cruel. And yet, I laughed when that golfer got drop-kicked. Somewhere inside I'm still 11 years old. Lord help me, I'm laughing right now just thinking about it.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
avital, kinda arrogant to assume that my sense of humor is childish. it's goofy for sure, asinine at times and quite often esoteric - but not childish. also, i'm as far from arrogant as you can get, i just see humor in just about everything and i love it. isn't it better to laugh than not to? i have fallen in front of crowds and i thought it was just as funny as everyone else did. it's not childish at all, it's just a different way of seeing the world without all the hang-ups attached.

having said that, i will take back what i said about lightening up - only b/c i seem to have offended avital with that and that wasn't my intent. but then again, avital, you put a swear word in your post. as a matter of fact, it looks like the only people (up 'til now) who put swear words in their responses were the ones that didn't like it. odd. oh, before you assume that i don't swear...i do, like sailor. just not in online forums where kids and others who don't want to read such things might see it. i guess i'm just childish that way...

but i truly do feel sorry for people who don't see the humor. i see it everywhere. but you can't argue about whose sense of humor is better because everyone is different.

now, a question - and i mean in sincerely because i'm curious....for those of you that don't like this - what kind of comedy do you like?
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Finding humor in silly, whimsical and absurd behavior is just having a good sense of humor, nothing wrong with it. But finding humor in other peoples suffering is cruelty and really defines a persons character. The elevator bit was cute as was the bit at the fair where he hit the punching bag. It may have inconvenienced someone but no one was hurt/damaged. But kicking sand in someones face, taking photos of someone nude, harassing cops, stealing, pushing someone into the water, damaging other peoples property, that is not only dangerous and mean but criminal. This guy isn't funny, he isn't a prankster, he isn't a comedian, he's a bully and a jerk. I sincerely hope he does jail time/community service and learns to grow up. And while I realize this isn't my site and you can post anything you want I really wish you wouldn't post juvenile stuff like this. This guy doesn't need any more attention and his horrible behavior shouldn't be glorified. It only encourages others.

i'm amazed at how strongly people have reacted to this video.

blessedblogger, i suppose i can see why you might think that people who find this funny might have a character flaw. i mean, if you truly believe that there is true suffering and cruelty depicted (and i believe that you do) - then it would be natural for you to think that those who laugh at it are, at best, not very nice. the thing is, not all of us see it like that. i've had nearly all of those things happen to me at one time or another - either on purpose or on accident and i survived them all no worse for the wear. you may not want to judge us with such a broad stroke. i don't want to get into what kind of person i am - i just want to point out that, just because someone's opinion of what is funny is different doesn't mean they lack character. they just may see things differently. nothing more.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
I'm french, i've been watching this guy's videos for quite some time now and this is probably the less funny one i've seen so far. His other stuff is pretty funny.

That said, i agree with BlessedBlogger. And it's not a question of people "surviving" those pranks. If you repeatedly spit on someone's face in the subway for no reason, the person will survive, but you'd still be an ass.

It's not a question of having a good sense of humor either. I mean, the guy takes a tray, jumps and throws food on the floor. Ok, well, rudeness aside, it's still not funny at all, it's just a guy jumping with a tray in his hands.

If you guys think that having a good sense of humor is being able to laugh at everything, you really need to reconsiderate the concept of humor.

Oh yes, and the sentence "he would seriously get his ass kicked if he tried ANY of this in the states." is ridiculous.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
I agree with BlessedBlogger and ak. Some of those scenes were funny but most of the time there was just a jerk doing idiotic things. The part that bothered me most, was in the restaurant: Who do you think is going to clean up all this shit?
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
What an asshole. What's so funny about hurting innocent people? Stealing isn't funny. Screwing with someone else's job isn't funny. You can do all the ridiculous things you want, but when you involve others, then it's common courtesy not to, say, KICK them or destroy their stuff. If you think otherwise, I'd like to see you try to have a good day if someone 'funny' does shit to you.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
"Oh yes, and the sentence “he would seriously get his ass kicked if he tried ANY of this in the states.” is ridiculous."- Not if you are from the States-For they are the biggest, toughest,French kangaroo kickin' dudes in the World as evidenced by their sterling performance in the world stage.
Chuck Norris is American -FACT!
SO.....It should have read "Anyone one will get their ass kicked if they try anything in any State!
Amerkay!! Kickin Asses since 1776!!
(Please remember this guy will offer an ass kicking for any one...But dont show titties at work. His boss will kick his ass));)

jodie:
I assume you have a childish sense of humor since you laughed at what I consider a childish video. Not all that farfetched, is it?
Trust me, I've had my share of public falls and other embarrassments and always took it lightly, I just just don't like seeing people bully or harass other people.

And don't worry, I'm also not easily offended.

I think ak and blessedblogger pretty much said it all, but for your final question-
I enjoy monty python, cartoons (American dad, Clone High, Code Monkeys), The Simpsons (they deserve their own category), The Office, stuff like that.
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Not ska?

Are you listening to the same music that the rest of us are?

On the planet that the rest of us live on that type of music is called ska.

What do they call it on your planet?
Abusive comment hidden. (Show it anyway.)
Adam, don't you know the difference between ska and sub-post-modern caribbean psycho punk-core? Clearly this was not ska! ;)

Also, I'd like to throw in my hat with the likes of avital and blessedblogger: Sure, I can laugh at myself (or anyone else for that matter) accidentally falling, but when someone does it to someone else on purpose it's just plain mean.

And since you asked: yes Monty Python, but also Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The failblog, Engrish.com, Dave Barry, XKCD, The Chaser's War On Everything (although they occasionally cross the same line as Gaillard did here), Whose Line Is It Anyway, A Prairie Home Companion, Car Talk, Off the Mark, The Onion... I think you get the point: I see humor in a lot of things. Just not meanness.

Jodie...I really didn't want to respond because I hate the unimportance of online arguing but come on, you can't be serious. There's a difference between seeing the humor and realizing the cruelty. You said you've fallen in public and laughed: so have I. But would you have laughed if the reason you fell was because some guy tripped you?

Lol what an epic thread!!!

The only part I found funny was the boxing ball bit and the elevator bit. The rest were just mean.

I love humour, I even sometimes participate in it myself - but this is just cruel.
(Monty Python FTW - and it's futile to discuss my/our sense of humor after I've said THAT. No you can't!!! ;)

I think everything that needed to be said has been said. Could the moderators please lock this down ;)

As others have said, I am a very calm person who loves to laugh, but I don't find cruel physical assaults (for lack of a better word) to be funny. Especially to people who don't deserve it.

I laugh at a lot of things, but this was just meh...
