Vector Photography

Photographer Andrew Bush mounted a camera in his car to catch drivers in Los Angeles and elsewhere in the southwest between 1989 and 1997. Then he posted the 66 most interesting ones. Link -via Metafilter

I don’t get why they’re “vector”…

Vector: "A quantity, such as velocity, completely specified by a magnitude and a direction."

He gives the speed and direction of each subject.

ah. *that* vector. there must be a lot of graphic designers here, because i was equally as confused.

on a tangent - what's with all the vintage cars? most photos are from the 90s, yet the vehicles are either 1960 and 70s vehicles.

I didn't look at all of the photos, but it seems to me that he shot them with a flash. If I was driving 70 mph on the highway, the last thing I would want from a car that was overtaking me would be to flash me and potentially freak me out ...

Couldn't he have used high-speed film instead?
