Here's something I didn't know about Kobe Bryant, the 2008 NBA MVP: he speaks fluent Italian! When he was 6 years old, Kobe's father moved his family to Italy to play professional basketball there. There, Kobe learned to speak Italian and play soccer.

I remember being in Italy, and Japanese tourists trying to speak to me in Italian. It struck me as odd, since it seemed so incongruous.
