Giant Amazon Water Lily

(Daily Motion link)

The Giant Amazon Water Lily, or Victoria amazonica {wiki} is the largest water lily in the world. And it throws its weight around, too! Sir David Attenborough narrates this time-lapse video. -via Digg

Awesome! I love David Attenborough and his works. Great stuff. I remember seeing a picture of a an Amazon Water Lily pad with a child sitting in it playing in it on National Geographic. It really blew my mind. 6 feet!

Did I hear him right? The leaves are 6ft across? Wow.. I can't even imagine that.
It's kinda scary with the spiny leaves, but still interesting.

Why can't we borrow Sir David for some documentaries? Most of the US-produced ones have narrators who sound as if they're presiding over the most boring (and pretentious) thing possible to imagine.
