79 Years of Best Picture Winners in Posters

The Oscars will be awarded this Sunday night, for the 80th time. Movie Poster Addict has compiled all 79 posters for movies that have won Best Picture at the Academy Awards. I’m sorry to say that I have only seen 39 of them. Cimarron (pictured) won in 1931. Link -Thanks, deadmen!

You aren't missing much. Most Best Picture winners are pretty mediocre. This is especially true for the past 20 years or so, but even if you go back to the beginning there are some truly forgettable movies that have won Best Picture.

A long time friend of my father, Howard Terpning, did many of those posters including Sound of Music and GwtW. You can see his work here:

Some of the posters (inc GwtW) are from re-releases over the years.

Gigi confuses me. It says on the poster something about "The First Great musical since My Fair Lady", but six years later My Fair Lady wins best picture. Howzzat?

@Johnny Cat

It says "The First Lerner-Loewe Musical Since 'My Fair Lady'" - both were on stage before they made it to the big screen, with the comedy writing team doing "My Fair Lady" before "Gigi", but "Gigi" was turned into a movie first.
