Watch Out for ... Berserk Llamas!

Just as I thought it's safe to roam the hills again, National Geographic Magazine's All-Terrain blog informs us of this frightening bit of news: the llamas have gone berserk!

"Do you have a llama that scares you? You are not alone."

So begins one Web site aimed at helping concerned llama breeders deal with a shameful problem that apparently has been haunting rural America since the pack animal first began to gain traction in the livestock market in the 1970's.

"... [S]cary and dangerous behaviors often develop without the handler or owner even knowing that something is wrong ... until it is really wrong," the site continues.

Some call it, simply, "Berserk Syndrome," or "Berserk Male Syndrome." Others refer to it more broadly as "Berserk
Llama Syndrome."
