Interview with Oliver Sacks: How Music Can Trigger and Soothe Neurological Diseases

Jacob Goldstein of Wall Street Journal interviewed neurologist and best-selling author Oliver Sacks about his new book "Musicophilia."

The book is about how music can trigger symptoms of neurological disease and help ease the condition in others:

Sacks explains how listening to music activates the region of the brain associated with motion–suggesting deep biological roots of dancing, or tapping our feet to music. Even when we imagine music, the brain’s motor cortex is activated. Imagining music, Sacks says, “is very real.”

I imagine music all the time! I'll be tapping my feet or bobbing my head or something and people will ask me if I'm hearing music.. It's usually just in my head!
