Caption Monkey 11: Teenage Mutant Ninja ... Poodle?

Photo: Daniel A. Anderson / The Orange Country Register

It's time for another Neatorama and Ape Lad's Hobotopia Caption Monkey game, but first, the story: that's Sandy Hartness of Yucaipa Valley, California, who turned this poodle into a Ninja Turtle named Leonardoodle at the SuperGroom 2007.

What's SuperGroom? It's just about the hottest contest in creative dog grooming industry where first place winner gets $5,000. Too bad the Ninja Turtle didn't win first place (how could it not? A travesty!). OC Register has the full story (and photo gallery, of course) - Thanks Julie Anne!

Now, the Caption Monkey game: Funniest caption wins a Free Monkey (or any other critter) Drawing by Ape Lad of Hobotopia. Contest rule is simple: place your caption in the comment, one caption per comment but you can submit as many funny ones as you can think of. You can also vote for your favorite comment, but not your own.

If you don't win, but still want a drawing (definitely worth it, IMHO!), you can get one directly from Ape Lad for a nominal fee.

Update 11/4/07 (yeah, it's that late!) - Congrats to Eric #9 for the winning caption!

Not only was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle soup the best soup she ever tasted, but the turtle skin coat could keep her warmer than if she had set her butt on fire.

he was rabid. charged out of the forest foaming at the mouth and yelling 'COWABUNGA!!!!!' then stabbed me in the arm with a katana. he took 3 shots to the heart before he went down. we will never eat pizza outdoors again.

Okay...I saw the picture, saw it titled "Caption This Photo" and thought it was some crazy lady with a weird arse stuffed animal. Then I read the bylines. "OH MY GOD" I said out loud, loudly. People around me wondered what on earth was going on...Thanks alot Neatorama for getting me busted. ;) ...Oh, and that poor poodle. Kinda cool, but when the ASPCA and PETA catch wind of this...

I do have to add that unless the text underneath had not told me, I would never have actually seen the DOG there. I thought it was some kind of giant plush-y doll or crochet creation.

Steiffs new mohair poodlebear-dressed-as-a-ninja-turtle drives the collectors into a rabid frenzy at the Doll and teddybear show.

Like others, I actually thought that poor poodle was a stuffed animal until I read the captions. It still doesn't look anything like a real dog, though.

And why on earth is the lady frowning so much? I mean, sure; it sucks to lose and all, but in the context it just looks so bizarre.

Jane is happy to have Fifi back but appeals to the vandals to turn themselves in to prevent others the pain she has had to endure.

This poodle prays every day to be euthanized.

This poodle is never allowed outside, for fear of a gang of pugs beating the Alpo out of it.

LADY: "Even though seeing my pooch like this makes me happy, my vet tells me that my dog is clinically depressed. Go figure."

It would seem that everyone in that photo lacks a sense of style.

Dog groomer catches El Chupacabra. Planned to use it in bank heist before officials caught up with her. More at 11.

A subtle re-write:

Despite Fifi's tragic death from shame almost 2 hours earlier, Mrs. Wartbogski was thrilled when rigor mortis kicked in right before the finals.

On TV, if you want to see a frog you need to use a turtle, cause frogs don't look like frogs on TV. If you want to see a turtle, well, we usually just spray paint a poodle.

The poodle made up to look like a Ninja Turtle came in a close second to the sheepdog made up to look like an ugly old lady.

"If you think she's something, you should see her litter of Power Rangers..."

He's very effective a a watchdog, since intruders react with either (a) OMG a Ninja Turtle, (b) WTF is that thing? or (c) whoever owns that is NUTS.

(damn just realized the 'one caption per comment' rule... okay then...)

Emotional testing on dogs proves a wide range of responses including shame and embarrassment.

BTW you can tell that dog knows it is having a bad day 'cause she has to hold its head up. This is not a proud moment for Gigi. Where is the ASPCA?

"Can't believe no one thought this was a real Ninja Turtle! Musta' been the brown pompom feet that gave it away..so much for pootle power!"

Secretly, he crouched amongst them. Seeking out which one was weak. Which one he would devour. Little did they know, that crawling along side them. Eyeing them as they made their way to the sea...Chomping away, violently. each one a meal in itself... The infamous!
