Trivia: Mecca-Cola, the Muslim Cola

Mecca-Cola is marketed to pro-Muslim consumers with an anti-Israel pitch, including that 10% of its profits will go to Palestine.

Its slogan is "No More Drinking Stupid, Drink with Commitment." It is made in France.

Let's not help the US media fuel the anti-Muslim pro-Zionist propaganda it spews on a daily basis.

"It is important for the Mecca-Cola boss to donate goods and not cash, states Mathlouthi: "We don't want people to think that we support soldiers or terrorist groups, only suffering children." - http://www.mecca-cola.com/en/press_releases2/1.php

"Part of its corporate philosophy is its pledge to donate 10% of its profits to fund humanitarian projects (such as schools) in Palestine, and another 10% to charities in the countries in which the drink is sold — particularly (to quote its website), "associations who work towards peace in the world and especially for peace in the conflict between Palestinians and fascist Zionist apartheid". - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mecca-Cola

They're not anti-Israel, they're anti-Zionist. That isn't necessarily a bad thing; it's like being anti-Bush-admin as opposed to being anti-US. Learn about Zionism here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zionist.

Also, the product was created by Tunisian-born Frenchman Taufik Mathlouthi. The company is currently based in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates. Let's also not participate in the fun-and-popular "freedom-fries" anti-France sentiment that plagues the US.

Yes, yes, those poor old mis-understood muslims. So hard to figure out why the world hates them with all their wonderful marketing tactics (you know, the terrorism, the beheadings, the burnings, the killings, the we hate anyone that's not muslim speeches, their stone age philosophy, their shameful treatment of women and children). I'm shocked, just shocked that normal, logical, kind people just can't "understand" these bastions for the religion of peace.

Peddle your sugar water and your feeble attempts at rationalization their misdeeds elsewhere.

I can't stand any group or religion that acts Elitist. And sadly about every religion/group is guilty of it.

Christians have their little "hidden" (not so) fish they put on everything. So instead of being nice to everyone, they know WHO to be nice to. (examp: "Oooh look...this plumber in the yellowpages has the fish icon. lets pick THEM! they must be more worthwhile.")

MANY racial minority groups cry and moan about equal rights and not being "racist" then act like they're some sort of exclusive club and cater only to their race. (Examp: "Donate your money to help inner city BLACK children. Because all inner-city kids are not equally worth helping!")

And how much of a stereotype is it for a Jewish (christian, muslim, etc) parent to insist that their child ONLY marry another Jewish (or whatever) person?

So... Mecca cola doesn't surprise me. Anyone who is a "part" of a group/religion tends to feel exclusive. Like they're better, and everyone should be like them or disappear and the world would be a better place. Just add this cola marketing to the pile.

I wanted a clarification on some things. Are they only being called anit-Israeli because they are buying buying books for Palestinian children? Or are they actually using anti-Israeli messages to sell cola? So I looked around the site. Here's what I found.

"Mecca-Cola specificity, a new business culture

Following the example of business activities started by charitable associations - « the charity-business » - we considered the idea of launching a new concept, namely that of putting the economy to work in the interest of ideology.
« Moslem and Arab Capital » being mainly in the form imposed by the most fierce materialistic capitalism, and often illegal and born of corruption, refuses, for fear of bringing ruin upon itself, to support the actions engaged. Because of this, militant people who are experiencing financial difficulties have no other alternative than to create profit-making activities to enable them to achieve their objectives, even though they did not start out as either traders or capitalists.

One of the perversions of capitalism lies in the generation within oneself of the most brutal and the most inhumane part of oneself.

The spirit which governed the creation of Mecca-Cola was to create a profit-making business which would help to relieve human suffering where action is still possible. The most intolerable and the most immediate suffering is that of the Palestinian people.

The Palestinian people are experiencing indifference and general complicity, these being the most wretched and the most contemptible acts of apartheid and Zionist fascism. But, as we are profoundly Moslem in spirit and in training, we can only adhere to our precepts, namely, give back the good that we have received in greater measure, but also spread good around oneself. It is for this reason that we have opted for the distribution of a share of the dividends in countries which have so generously welcomed us, and in the populations amongst whom we live."

I also looked around the internet, and I haven't found anything suggesting that they weren't on the up-and-up. So unless, anyone can point to anything specifically anti-Israel, I think it would be good of Neatorama to update this post to clarify that this is more of an activist cola than a fundamentalist cola.

"those poor old mis-understood muslims. So hard to figure out why the world hates them"

Speak for yourself you buffoon.

All religions go through the mad phases, this is why any sane individual will be an atheist.

As for Mecca Cola, if the worlds Muslims don't want to buy the US approved Malted battery acid then fine, why does this bother you?

I'm a Scot and in my country the Bubbly black crap is out sold 2 to 1 by the local BRU.

I live just outside Dewsbury West Yorkshire home to several of the 7/7 bombers. Here all the take away food places are Pakistani, Halal,Muslim and serve Mecca Cola.

No one gives a monkey's about the fizzy pop.

So they are pro Palestinian, contrary to what you might think it is not just Muslims who are pro palestinian or anti isreali government.

And please note that there is a DISTINCT difference between anti Isreali Government and anti semite.

Muslim, Christian, Jew.

All the Abrahamic mental case monotheistic monolithic death cults.

"The Palestinian people are experiencing indifference and general complicity, these being the most wretched and the most contemptible acts of apartheid and Zionist fascism."

It's to my infinite sadness to watch the Palestinians and Israelis miss opportunities after opportunities for peace. Even with Arafat's passing and Sharon's illness, peace is still illusory.

This isn't just due to apartheid and Zionist fascism - the entire region is willfully neglecting their plight. Where are charities from the rest of the rich Islamic Arabic countries? All those princes and oil wealth trickle not to Palestine.

Anti-Zionist is often a euphimism for anti-Israel. Here's an article about a LeMonde interview with Tawfiq Mathlouthi, the founder of Mecca-Cola:

Mathlouthi says that when Muslims "buy an American good they know they are helping American imperialism, which helps the crimes of the Zionist entity, and that they are giving money to kill their brothers."

In response to Palestinian leaders who at least publicly have accepted Israel's existence, including Yasser Arafat, Mathlouthi replied: "We are not fighting for the same Palestine."

The French businessman wants the destruction of what he calls "the Zionist entity" and its replacement with an Arab state that covers the whole of British Mandate Palestine, LeMonde reported.

In a Sept. 22, 2002, broadcast, a caller referred to "Israelis," which brought an immediate retort from Mathlouthi: "What 'Israelis? I don't know any such thing. All I know is the Zionist entity."

The twin fascisms that causes most massacres, wars, "conflicts" today:

Arabism is racism (Arab racism)
Millions upon Millions are/became victims of [pan-] Arabism which is the worst current form of racism in its gigantic proportions, like: Kurds Jews (not just in Israel) Berbers (the real natives of North Africa), Africans (not just in the genocide in the Sudan or in Egypt on native Nubians by Arab invaders – till today), Persians, etc.

Islamism is bigotry (Islamofascism)!
The Islamic supremacy that “works” towards its vision of “final Islamic domination on the entire planet”, from Middle east to Africa from Asia to Eurabia, from terrorism & massacres in multiple countries (like: Thailand, Phillipines, China, Indonesia, Tunisia, Morocco, Kenya, Tanzania, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Lebanon India, USA, France, Israel, Russia, UK, etc.) to propaganda, the war includes on Muslims who are not radical enough...,

Let’s face it! that entire war on Israel & the Jews since the 1920’s by infamous facsist Mufti Haj Amin Al-Husseini who started the “genocide campaign” [and continues by the children, grand children of Arab immigrants into Israel - Palestine - now convenienently called "palestinians"] in a clear outlined declaration to 'kill all Jews', is nothing but out of pure Arab Muslim bigotry.

---

Why does biased media blame Israel defenders from vicious Arab Muslims who use civilians when they attack Israeli civilians... so that their civilians (they prefer kids to) die then parade with the casualties as "innocent victims"???

BTW
While the Islamo Arab dictatorship goes on...
Israeli [ungrateful] Arabs won't mention FAVORITISM by democratic pluralistic multi-racial Israel in: land, courts & universities.
