What is It? Game 34

This week's collaboration with What is it? blog brings us this strange device - can you guess what it is? More clues at the What is it? blog.

Place your guess in the comment section, but please post no URLs - let others play! No prize this week, you’re playing for bragging rights only.

Update 8/24/07: It's a fish scaler - congrats to Eosha #1 who got it right, right away!

Its a chess piece warmer. If you don't like having cold chess pieces, you simply insert them into this machine and put hot coals underneath it. Then your chess pieces will be toasty warm, perfect for winning with.

Its a Poldyne tuner wrench master socket set. Although those small square things (Poldyne wrench socket heads)look similar, each is manufactured to a specific gravity and harmonic imbalance. Without a complete set you can never get your poldyne drive properly attenuated and then you'll be stuck on some desolate alien planet forever. Believe me.

To me, it looks like it's a type of screwdriver for a proprietary screw with many inlets in the head instead of a slot- or cross-shape to fit into with a standard- or philips-type screwdriver.

Or, a fish scaler.
