Travel Back in Time to Former East Germany

Part of me really likes the look of that room.

Another part of me is ashamed of that part of me.

It's all about that wallpaper.

Does the wake-up call involve a knock on the door in the middle of the night?

i wonder if it involves the hotel management trying to recruit your spouse/friend to spy on you.

This is "Travel Back in Time" (only). In my friend flat time stopped in '78 (and many many more flats are the same).

I'm afraid I haven't seen "Goodbye Lenin", but I will.

My girlfriend is actually born in former East Germany and recognizes A LOT of the interior design from the Ostel hotel. They didn't have much to choose from back in the old East German days. It was a very, very limited set of furniture you had to choose from. If you wanted a bed, you could pick Bed1 or Bed2. If you wanted a kitchen table, you could pick Table1 or Table2 - more or less.

Believe or not, they had to queue for at least 10 years to get a Trabant. When they finally had the chance to get one of those cardboard cars, the wall came down. :)
