Howard "Bubba" Ludwig is not just any 10-month-old baby boy. He can't walk yet, but he has a license to buy, own, and carry firearms!
As a FOID cardholder, baby Bubba can own a firearm and ammunition in Illinois. He can also legally transport an unloaded weapon -- though he can't walk yet, so that's not an issue.
The plastic card has a picture of a toothless, grinning Bubba in the upper right corner. It includes his name, address and date of birth.
The FOID card lists his height (2 feet, 3 inches), and his weight (20 pounds).
His signature is superimposed at the bottom of the card. Bubba can't sign his name, so I simply placed a pen in his hand. He made the scribble.
The story gets funnier: turns out the reason Bubba got the card was because his grandpa bought him a 12-gauge Beretta.

The author got the card for his son, who was given a trap shooting gun from his grandfather. "Grandpa Ludwig, an avid trap shooter, explained he wanted an heirloom for his first grandson. He plans to engrave his name on the trigger guard."
There is no age restriction on owning a firearm, thus no restriction on having a license to own a firearm. FOID is short for Firearm Owner's IDentification. The Neatorama post's title is a little misleading in saying little Bubba is licensed to "carry" firearms.
What better to give a grandson. As Thomas Jefferson wrote:
"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks." (Thomas Jefferson, Encyclopedia of T. Jefferson, 318 [Foley, Ed., reissued 1967]; Thomas Jefferson to Peter Carr, 1785. The Writings of Thomas Jefferson, [Memorial Edition] Lipscomb and Bergh, editors)
And I guess we can't expect someone like fluff to understand how a gun can be an heirloom. Must be an American thing.
Oh wait; Grandad bought Bubba a Beretta — manufactured by an Italian company!
That made me burst out with laughter. Seems that for you the most important part of freedom is about guns, right?
Seems to me as though guns brought us freedom back in the late 1700's, and continue to guarantee our freedom today. Anyone who doesn't realize this is, well, retarded or european.
