In my opinion, it seems racist to give white people large noses and to darken their skin. Plus, it weirds me out that people are that dedicated to auto-insurance commercials...

I just read about the TV show this weekend. It sounds like the thing is dreck and they may hold up the debut. The local TV critic said they already canned the original actors and the early rushes weren't looking good.

Is it a coincidence that Karina Longworth's excellent podcast, You Must Remember This, is doing a series on Boris and Bela? My favorite tidbit from the latest episode is that Karloff formed the Screen Actor's Guild in response to his treatment during the filming of Frankenstein.

In 1952, a private collector discovered a 1910 version of Frankenstein that Edison Studios produced and thought to be lost, because when people saw the 12-minute movie, it was considered sacrilegious and appalling to people.
It's interesting that Universal would consider remaking the short film into a full scale movie from the novel and then release it right before Christmas in 1931... a religious holiday.

DRACULA had saved Universal by making $700,000 ( $700,000 dollars in 1931 is worth $10,497,043.47 in 2017)
Does anyone know how much FRANKENSTEIN made the first year? We know it had made 1.4 million by Summer, which in today's money would be $23,151,013.70
