Now here's a horse race: Seabiscuit against the Triple Crown winner War Admiral in 1938, in a race dubbed the "Match of the Century."
If you saw the movie Seabiscuit (2001), then you'll know that the horse was an aging horse that finished last in most of his races - everyone gave up on him (he was even used as a work horse) until his new owner Charles Howard, trainer Tom Smith and jockey Red Pollard gave him a new life.
In this race, Pollard let War Admiral catch up to his horse. Seabiscuit, upon seeing War Admiral next to him, surged and won by four lengths.
Here's the moment that personified the "Agony of Defeat": Yugoslavian ski jumper Vinko Bogataj's spectacular long jump failure that made him more famous than if he were to win anything!

That Whushu video made my eyes water and cringe. I have this constant fear of my eyes being poked out by sharp things...brrrr the thought of one mistake during the spear @ face moments makes me quiver.
Aramax - that's not entirely true. Jacques had no race seat and left F1 not because of choice, but because there was nowhere for him to go, just like Juan Pablo Montoya.
o_o
It's not Jacque Villeneuve but his father Gilles Villeneuve in the 10th position and he lost his life unlike all the 9 others.
Jacque Villeneuve left F1 forever because of the lack of respect those events ( Mainly the organisators ) have toward the pilots.
