This House Can Retract Its Room, Just Like a Turtle.

This unique house, designed by 24H-architecture in Rotterdam, the Netherlands doesn't only look fluid - it actually can retract its room (the one with the window) back into its "shell" like a turtle! [Flash]

That is really cool. It's sort of like how RVs work. They have these sections that can be pushed out when the RV is parked and pushed in when the RV is on the move.

Neat...but why?

(only thing i can think of that your summerhouse doesnt get its windows trown in in the winter or some thing like that, but there are cheaper ways to do that :))

Hey! It's shaped just like my house! organic.

I guess it would be useful to retract the room during the colder months, to help cut down on the heating bill. But I'd need some natural lighting streaming in from somewhere, or I'd go bonkers!

There is also one retractable 3 stories house in Mexico-City, it was built in the 90's and the retractable floor is to allow the room to receive sunlight (was made for a woman that couldn't move much)
