Suddenly I'm remembering the Eighties-era "Star Wars" Strategic Defense Initiative again...and how everyone mocked it at the time. Hmm...
Nifty?...yes.
Perfect?...maybe not so much.
There are so many technologies that have their birth thanks to the enormous budget the US military is given.
I sometimes wonder what kind of world we would have if not for the Cold War which forced two super powers into a fierce competition for technological supremecy.
We'd have our flying cars for a start.
Far more technologies weren't birthed because of the wasted resources. Also considering all the inventions attributed to NASA which they didn't invent (everything from velcro to microwave ovens) I wouldn't trust any list of technologies "birth thanks to the enormous budget the US military is given".
